Harvest 2024

This year’s harvest in Stellenbosch has been nothing short of spectacular, underscoring our region’s proud viticultural heritage and Mulderbosch’s unwavering commitment to quality. Every season brings its own set of challenges and triumphs, and 2024 has certainly been a memorable one.

Weather and Conditions

The 2024 growing season offered a diverse mix of weather patterns. We experienced a particularly wet spring, which kept us on our toes managing vine health and mildew prevention. As summer arrived, warm and dry conditions prevailed, allowing our grapes to ripen beautifully. This combination of weather has resulted in exceptional grape quality, with an ideal balance of sugars and acidity.

Harvest Highlights

At Mulderbosch, we are delighted with the quality of this year’s grapes. Our Cabernet Franc vines have been especially generous, promising aromatic and structured wines that we all cherish. Cabernet Sauvignon has also had a stellar year, offering rich, bold characteristics. Merlot also from Mulderbosch, displayed remarkable complexity and vibrant fruitiness.

Our Chardonnay grapes ripened to perfection, ensuring wines that will be both refreshing and robust. Sauvignon Blanc continues to impress with its vibrant, zesty flavours. Chenin Blanc, known for its versatility, promises lively and layered wines that will captivate palates.

While Mulderbosch’s heart beats strongest in Stellenbosch, we maintain close ties with the vineyards in Swartland and Darling.

Both experienced a predominantly dry growing season, interspersed with heatwaves that pushed grape ripening to exceptional levels. These conditions have produced grapes with concentrated flavours and robust tannins, particularly our Cabernet Sauvignon used for our Rosé.

The 2024 harvest has set the stage for an extraordinary vintage. At Mulderbosch, we are excited to transform these exceptional grapes into wines that will bring joy and celebration to your tables. The dedication and passion of our team, combined with the bountiful gifts of nature, ensure that our wines will continue to deliver luxury with affordability.

As we raise our glasses to toast this year’s harvest, we thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to the vibrant wines of 2024 and the countless moments of happiness they will bring.

Warm Regards,

Henry Kotzé
