Mulderbosch wines are made using our own vineyards and those from the surrounding Stellenbosch region in addition to several coastal origin sites. We are always in search of unique vineyards, grown and harvested responsibly, that reflect the distinctive elements of the environment in which they grow.

Vineyard diversity:

In 2019, aside from our own vineyards, we sourced an additional 17 blocks of grapes from 10 growers in Stellenbosch and 2 from the Coastal regions of Darling and Philadelphia.

All our wines are certified as Wine of Origin Stellenbosch with the exception of our Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon which is certified as Wine of Origin Coastal Region. Believing as we do in the importance of vineyard site, we produce two single vineyard wines- a Chenin Blanc sourced from a celebrated site close to False Bay, and a Cabernet Franc from a very special site here on Mulderbosch.

Site Selection:
  • Cooler locations with close proximity to False Bay yield grapes of more intense flavour and balanced acidity;
  • South/South-East facing slopes are given preference due to their cooler aspect;
The soil composition of each vineyard influences not only the date of harvest, but also the winemaking approach in order to achieve the best possible expression of each site.
